About the Role

The Senior Automation Engineer will design, develop, and implement automation control systems for industrial processes and warehouse distribution equipment, focusing on conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print‑and‑apply systems, and SCADA devices. This role requires strong engineering principles, programming expertise, and a priority on safety and reliability. As the site technical expert, you will lead the automation engineering program, set objectives, delegate work, and mentor engineers and apprentices. You will design and optimize control systems, maintain PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks, and manage documentation and change‑control processes. Collaboration with operations, engineering, and support teams will drive material‑handling improvements, while you provide advanced troubleshooting, remote assistance, root‑cause analysis, and vendor coordination. • Lead the site automation engineering program, set goals, delegate tasks, and mentor engineers and apprentices. • Design, develop, implement, and optimize PLC/PC control systems for conveyors, sortation, scanners, cameras, and SCADA devices. • Maintain and troubleshoot automation equipment, industrial networks, and control software. • Govern automation documentation, change‑management processes, and safety compliance. • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and support teams to enhance material‑handling systems. • Provide advanced troubleshooting, remote assistance, root‑cause analysis, and vendor coordination. • Monitor system performance and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.

What You Bring

JLL uses artificial intelligence to match candidates with roles and is dedicated to protecting personal information through clear privacy policies and accommodations for applicants with disabilities. • 5+ years PLC‑controlled automation experience (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, or Codesys) with ladder logic and structured programming. • 2+ years experience with robotics work cells and automated equipment. • Leadership experience directing, training, and mentoring automation engineers. • Proficiency with CMMS, maintenance coordination, and multi‑stakeholder communication. • Bachelor’s degree in computer, electrical, or automation engineering (or equivalent experience). • Preferred: advanced degree and additional 5+ years in PLC programming, HMI, SCADA, VFDs, and industrial electrical systems. • Experience with programming tools such as RSLogix 5000 Studio, FT View, and control software integration. • Field service background supporting conveyors, sortation, ASRS, and industrial robotics; remote technical support.
