About the Role

The role is for a senior Project Director who will lead major capital programmes or large portfolios within sectors such as infrastructure, real estate, energy, natural resources or defence. The incumbent will be accountable for transforming client approaches to project‑programme‑portfolio management (P3M) with a strong emphasis on cost, commercial performance, assurance and digitally‑enabled ways of working. Key responsibilities include providing overall leadership for client engagements, assessing strategic objectives and delivery maturity, and translating these insights into clear transformation plans. The director will define and embed P3M governance, processes, data structures, tools and systems, while directing technology suppliers and system integrators to protect commercial outcomes. Additional duties involve mentoring multi‑disciplinary delivery teams, overseeing business readiness and stakeholder engagement, delivering senior‑level cost and performance assurance, and driving continuous improvement of Turner & Townsend’s digital P3M advisory capability. The role also requires visible senior leadership on client sites and virtual teams, as well as participation in business generation and market‑building activities. • Lead client engagements, owning delivery outcomes, commercial performance and client satisfaction. • Assess client challenges and maturity, creating transformation and implementation plans. • Define and embed P3M governance, processes, data structures, tools and systems. • Direct technology suppliers and system integrators, managing risk and commercial outcomes. • Mentor multi‑disciplinary delivery teams and ensure alignment with client priorities. • Oversee business readiness, change management and stakeholder engagement. • Provide senior‑level cost, commercial and performance assurance and reporting. • Drive continuous improvement of Turner & Townsend’s digital P3M capabilities. • Ensure quality of deliverables, reports and recommendations throughout engagements. • Represent Turner & Townsend as senior leader on‑site and virtually. • Shape business opportunities, lead bids and support strategic account development. • Contribute to market profile, thought leadership and marketing activities. • Take full ownership for outcomes, decisions and risk resolution. • Build trusted senior‑level relationships with clients and internal stakeholders. • Apply strong analytical, commercial and strategic judgement to complex challenges. • Remain resilient and effective when navigating ambiguity, challenge and change.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a degree or equivalent senior professional experience and has a proven record of leading major capital programmes with complex stakeholder and supply‑chain environments. Experience in establishing or transforming P3M disciplines, strong knowledge of project controls, cost and commercial principles, and relevant professional accreditation (e.g., APM, PMI) are essential. Key behaviours expected are full ownership of outcomes and risk, building trusted senior‑level relationships, applying strong analytical and strategic judgement, communicating with authority and clarity, listening effectively, and remaining resilient and decisive under pressure and ambiguity. • Degree‑qualified or equivalent senior professional experience. • Proven track record leading major capital programmes or large portfolios. • Experience transforming project ways of working and integrating P3M disciplines. • Strong knowledge of project controls, cost and commercial principles. • Ability to define and govern project/portfolio structures across scope, schedule, cost, risk and resources. • Experience specifying, implementing or overseeing P3M technologies. • Demonstrated capability building and organisational change leadership. • APM, PMI or equivalent professional accreditation (or equivalent experience). • Communicate with authority and clarity, focusing on what matters most. • Listen effectively and understand the wider organisational and commercial context. • Demonstrate determination and leadership under pressure.
