About the Role
In this role you will participate in bridge inspections, perform structural load calculations, and assist with geometric layout and quantity development. You will apply structural engineering and detailing techniques to develop bridge designs, work on various bridge types and highway/rail interchange projects, select standard engineering procedures, develop structural details using specialized software, and perform other duties as needed. • Participate in bridge inspections and conduct structural load calculations. • Assist with geometric layout and quantity development for bridge projects. • Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in bridge design. • Develop structural details using software such as OpenBridge Designer, LARSA, and SAP2000. • Design various bridge types (steel plate girder, prestressed concrete, segmental, cable) and related highway/rail interchange components. • Produce project documentation and perform other duties as needed.

HDR is seeking a Bridge EIT/Designer to join the Transportation Business Group in North Carolina, with the position based in either the Raleigh or Charlotte office. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field, an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or the ability to obtain one, and experience in bridge/structural design. Candidates should be proficient with MS Office, MathCAD, AutoCAD, LARSA, and prestressed concrete design tools, and have knowledge of Bentley OpenBridge Designer as well as familiarity with software such as MDX and SAP2000. Preference is given to local candidates. Required qualifications comprise a Bachelor’s degree, familiarity with Bluebeam Revu, and knowledge of engineering software packages such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB‑MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, STLBridge, Bentley OpenBridge Modeler, Autodesk Infraworks, and Civil3D.
