About the Role

The Tower Technician installs, maintains, and operates wired, wireless, fiber optic, and microwave telecommunications equipment. Duties include climbing towers and ladders, erecting various tower types, off‑loading material, preparing sites, and installing carriers, antennas, transmission lines, and foundations, often using helicopters, cranes, or gin poles. All work follows MasTec’s safety policies and industry standards such as OSHA, TIA‑10‑48, NATE CTS, and ANSI. • Install, maintain, and operate wired, wireless, fiber optic, and microwave telecom equipment. • Climb towers and ladders, perform tower erection and assist with helicopter, crane, and gin‑pole lifts. • Off‑load material, manage inventory, and prepare/clean work sites. • Install new carriers on new‑build and existing towers. • Assemble monopole, weld, knock‑down self‑support, and guyed towers. • Install antennas (microwave, VHF, UHF, cellular, FM) and related transmission lines. • Perform foundation, grounding, conduit, and electrical installations. • Follow MasTec Health Safety and Environmental policies and industry standards (OSHA, TIA‑10‑48, NATE CTS, ANSI). • Read and interpret technical prints and instructions. • Maintain a high level of safety and quality in all tasks.

What You Bring

Candidates must prioritize safety, demonstrate high‑quality workmanship, and enjoy hands‑on problem solving on long‑term projects. Required qualifications include a high school diploma (or equivalent) plus eight years of relevant experience, ability to read technical prints, knowledge of safety regulations, and a valid driver’s license. Physical requirements involve tower climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, working up to 12 hours, and being available for weekend or night shifts and extensive travel; NWSA certification is a plus. • Meet physical demands: climb towers, lift 50 lb, work up to 12 hours, travel extensively, and work weekends/nights in extreme weather. • Possess a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least eight years of relevant experience; NWSA certification is a plus. • Hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
