About the Role

The cost‑management function delivers services from inception through completion across various sectors. Responsibilities include feasibility studies, procurement strategy, value management, cost planning, contract documentation, valuations, cost control reporting, claim evaluation and certificate issuance, all while leading a team of Cost Consultants and driving continuous improvement. The role also collaborates on net‑zero carbon transition and manages key stakeholder relationships. • Conduct feasibility studies and advise on procurement strategies and contract selection. • Apply value management techniques and develop final cost plans. • Manage estimating, cost planning and present cost plans to stakeholders. • Oversee procurement stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation. • Supervise contract documents, warranties, bonds, licences and support formal execution. • Administer building contract terms and manage valuations and cost checking. • Produce monthly post‑contract cost reports and present them to clients. • Identify costs related to design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges. • Evaluate delay and additional cost claims from contractors and subcontractors. • Issue certificates for defect remediation, practical completion and negotiate final accounts. • Lead and coach a team of Cost Consultants, driving performance and development. • Implement system and process improvements and drive transformational change. • Mentor team members and share technical expertise. • Build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships. • Support net‑zero carbon transition initiatives and manage associated emissions.

What You Bring

Candidates must have a degree in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management (or equivalent) and professional membership such as MRICS/RICS. They need deep expertise in sustainability, social value, carbon reduction, value engineering, life‑cycle costing and construction contract law, as well as strong procurement and contract‑administration experience. Leadership, coaching and the ability to implement process improvements are essential. • Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management (or equivalent) and MRICS/RICS membership. • Demonstrate strong knowledge of sustainability, social value and carbon reduction. • Expertise in value engineering, life‑cycle costing and construction contract law. • Detailed understanding of major construction contracts and contractual frameworks. • Proven experience in procurement, cost control and contract administration. • Ability to lead teams, provide coaching and deliver process improvements.
