About the Role

The Area Director, Business Development at Republic Services leads the creation and execution of market strategy through an integrated planning process. This role also drives the development of solid‑waste infrastructure via acquisitions, divestitures, privatizations and organic growth, partnering with market, area and corporate functions to position the company for market success. Key responsibilities include shaping market strategies to boost financial performance, coordinating strategic planning with sales and revenue management, and ensuring operational leaders execute action plans. The director oversees financial and capital analysis for business‑development transactions, leads due diligence, negotiation and integration of acquisitions and divestitures, and supports municipal infrastructure privatizations. Additionally, the role manages the full lifecycle of new solid‑waste projects such as recycling centers, transfer stations and landfills, guiding internal and external expert teams to meet milestones and cost targets. • Develop and drive market strategies to improve financial performance. • Facilitate integrated strategic planning and coordinate with Sales and Revenue Management. • Conduct financial and capital investment analysis for acquisitions and divestitures. • Lead due diligence, negotiation, closing, and integration of business development transactions. • Evaluate and manage development of solid waste infrastructure projects (recycling centers, transfer stations, landfills). • Lead cross‑functional project teams, set milestones, and ensure timely, cost‑effective project completion. • Oversee real estate transactions and municipal infrastructure privatizations. • Manage project budgets exceeding $5 million and lead multidisciplinary expert teams.

What You Bring

Candidates must have related environmental industry experience, a minimum of five years in strategy, project, infrastructure or real‑estate development, and a track record managing budgets over $5 million and multidisciplinary teams. Strong financial acumen, the ability to interpret reports, and excellent written and verbal communication are required, along with interpersonal skills to earn respect from internal and external customers. • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategy, project, infrastructure or real‑estate development.
