About the Role

• Set up, flag, and inspect a crane; inspect rigging properly • Check in truck deliveries against bill of lading; direct forklift/crane to unload delivery truck • Shake out rebar, distribute and organize; tie rebar intersections with pliers and tie wire • Cut excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces using gas cut saw or torch • Install mechanical rebar splices by bolting or welding; install caps on vertical rebar dowels for safety • Receive and offload major components; install loose components for nacelle, hub, and tower preparation • Connect blades to hub; set base and tower sections; handle taglines • Climb ladders (average 80 m) and build relationships with diverse team members

What You Bring

Mortenson is seeking an Ironworker I to mark, position, and secure structural steel members that reinforce concrete or building structures. The role involves working on a variety of components such as rebar, mechanical splices, and turbine towers, and requires collaboration with diverse teams on‑site. The position demands reliable handling of material deliveries, thorough inspection of cranes and rigging, and precise cutting and installation of rebar and steel components. Candidates must be comfortable working at heights up to 80 m and be prepared to perform additional duties as directed. Applicants need a high school diploma or GED, at least four years of relevant experience, and must have passed the Apprentice Aptitude Test. A current driver’s license, strong teamwork and communication skills, and the ability to read safety documents and apply basic math are also required.
