Senior Service Engineer - Telecom

About the Role

As a Senior Service Engineer you will execute SLA programs, retrofit upgrades, extensions and modifications of control and protection systems for medium‑ to high‑complexity assignments. You will manage all site activities efficiently, cost‑effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. The role includes advising clients on maintenance and upgrades, delivering presentations and training on new products, and conducting proof‑of‑concepts. You will represent the Service Engineering function at project and design review meetings and produce as‑built documentation. You will support continuous improvement by providing lessons‑learned feedback, assist Project Managers with claims for scope, cost, schedule and risk, and create work plans and cost estimates for your area of responsibility. Site activities focus on final customer acceptance certification, and you will act as the Hitachi Energy lead for Service Engineering on projects, ensuring the organization is presented professionally. You will manage external vendors delivering equipment or services, issue permits, enforce health‑and‑safety requirements, and coach associate Service Engineers to follow approved processes and safety regulations. Preparation of project documentation such as SAT, incident and root‑cause analysis reports, and obtaining utility or customer approvals for telecom system activities are required. • Execute SLA programs, retrofits, extensions, and modifications of control and protection systems for medium/high‑complexity projects. • Manage site activities to meet contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements while staying on schedule and budget. • Design and implement telecom solutions using SDH/PDH multiplexers, wireless routers/bridges, switches, routers, PABX and network‑management products. • Advise clients on maintenance and upgrades, deliver product training and conduct proof‑of‑concept demonstrations. • Represent Service Engineering at project and design review meetings and produce as‑built documentation. • Provide lessons‑learned feedback to improve project processes, product and system designs. • Support Project Managers with claims related to scope changes, cost, schedule and risk. • Create work plans, cost estimates and ensure timely delivery of program objectives. • Lead Service Engineering activities on projects, ensuring professional representation of Hitachi Energy. • Manage external vendors, issue permits, enforce health‑and‑safety practices and coach associate engineers. • Prepare SAT, incident and root‑cause analysis reports and obtain utility/customer approvals for telecom work. • Ensure compliance with internal/external regulations and uphold Hitachi Energy’s safety and integrity values.

What You Bring

You must be proficient with telecom equipment such as SDH and PDH multiplexers, wireless routers/bridges, switches, routers, PABX systems and network‑management products. You will work with the tendering team to translate client specifications into technical solutions across PDH, SDH, Ethernet and MPLS‑TP technologies. Compliance with external and internal regulations, procedures and Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity is essential, and you must take responsibility for your actions while caring for colleagues and the business. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, together with broad knowledge of Hitachi Energy systems, third‑party products and strong coordination and reporting skills.
