About the Role

HDR is seeking a Transportation Business Development Leader to head our Canadian program. The role oversees coordination and oversight of transportation marketing programs, business development for major planning, design and construction initiatives, and engagement with local operations managers and regional directors on strategic planning, budgeting, client development and staffing. The leader will manage marketing efforts, develop operating plans and budgets, track performance indicators, and collaborate with area operations and marketing staff to build capabilities through recruitment and training. They will also nurture client relationships, implement HDR marketing policies, monitor market trends, and represent the firm in community and industry activities across Canada. • Lead coordination and oversight of Canada’s transportation marketing programs and initiatives. • Manage development and execution of marketing operating plans, budgets, and performance tracking. • Direct marketing staff on business group pursuits and build capabilities through recruitment and training. • Collaborate with area operations and transportation managers on key hires and investments. • Coordinate marketing activities with Canadian Market Sector Leaders. • Serve as key client manager, develop client management plans, and lead client meetings. • Implement HDR marketing policies, quality assurance, and risk management in Canada. • Monitor market trends and support strategic and tactical planning. • Facilitate major pursuit proposal reviews, program evaluations, and client feedback processes. • Represent HDR in business and community activities to enhance brand presence.

What You Bring

• Minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience. • Proven self‑starter with a track record of delivering projects independently. • Deep knowledge of A/E/C procurement processes. • Strong ability to motivate teams and build client/partner networks. • Experience in sales, win‑strategy development, and negotiating high‑value contracts. • Solid financial acumen and excellent written/verbal communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). • Willingness to travel and engage in‑person with stakeholders. • Skilled at creating compelling content from technical inputs. • Success in growing programs in competitive markets.
