About the Role

The Manufacturing Engineer – External Supply Chain role in Indianapolis is responsible for ensuring that component or system product integrity is maintained by aligning manufacturing methods with design intent. This position works closely with design engineering organizations to define and verify manufacturing approaches that meet quality, cost, delivery, and performance targets. The role involves using technical packages to establish best practices, influencing commodity strategies, and validating supplier manufacturing methods through FAIR and Method Verification processes. Engineers also approve component airworthiness by processing critical data and may travel up to 25 % of the time for domestic and international engagements. • Establish best practices and influence commodity strategies using technical packages. • Develop manufacturing methods for new components that meet quality, cost, delivery, and performance criteria. • Validate supplier manufacturing capability via the FAIR process and manage method changes through Method Verification. • Approve component airworthiness by processing critical specification and compliance data. • Travel up to 25% domestically and internationally to support supply chain activities.

Basic qualifications include an associate degree with four years, a bachelor’s with two years, a master’s, a JD/PhD, or six years of manufacturing engineering experience, and U.S. citizenship. Preferred experience includes working with forgings or special processes, knowledge of metal removal and aerospace component processing, and familiarity with FAIR, PPAP, and APQP. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification and experience in source/method change and classified parts control are also valued. • Associate degree + 4+ years or Bachelor’s + 2+ years or Master’s/PhD/JD or 6+ years manufacturing engineering experience; U.S. citizenship required. • Experience with forgings or special processes and ability to discuss technical and business issues at all management levels. • Proficiency in metal removal, aerospace component processing, and knowledge of FAIR, PPAP, and APQP. • Practical knowledge of source/method change, classified parts control, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
