About the Role

The Director will lead a local team of traffic design and operations professionals, mentor staff, and provide traffic engineering expertise on projects. Responsibilities include leading traffic‑focused and multidisciplinary projects, leveraging client relationships to cross‑sell services, engaging in professional societies, collaborating with district traffic leads and business unit leads for workload balance and business development, and ensuring engineering services meet industry standards, budget, quality, and project objectives. Additional duties include staying current with traffic engineering practices, making ethical decisions, and performing other responsibilities as required. • Lead and mentor a local traffic design and operations team. • Provide traffic engineering expertise on multi‑disciplinary projects. • Drive business development by leveraging client relationships and cross‑selling WSP services. • Participate in professional societies, conferences, and present technical content. • Collaborate with district and business unit leads for workload balance and project delivery excellence. • Ensure engineering services meet industry standards, budget, quality, and client requirements. • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of traffic engineering techniques and ethical decision‑making.

WSP is initiating a search for a Traffic Engineering Technical Director to lead its Las Vegas traffic group. The role involves engaging with the Pacific Northwest Traffic & Transportation Team and contributing to a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges. WSP seeks an experienced, innovative, results‑oriented, team‑focused Traffic Engineer to provide leadership, oversee project delivery and staff development, and offer technical guidance for local, state, and regional clients. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field), possess an engineer’s license, and have 12+ years of post‑degree experience in traffic design and infrastructure, including staff and project management. Advanced proficiency in traffic engineering principles, technical computations, QA/QC, and software such as AutoCAD/MicroStation is required, along with strong leadership, communication, analytical, and safety track records. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, supervisory experience, PTOE/PTP certification, and proficiency with technical writing and traffic analysis software (Synchro, Vissim, Sidra).
