About the Role

As a Control Systems Engineer you will develop and define control system functions and interfaces, ensure technical outcomes meet standards and quality, and collaborate with senior engineers and other teams throughout the full life‑cycle. The role includes up to 20 % travel between Rolls‑Royce sites and up to 10 % other travel. In this role you will collaborate with teams and customers to develop electrical, electronics and mechatronics control system requirements, design and verification work products for safety‑critical applications per ARP4754A and DO‑178C guidance. You will work cross‑functionally to uphold the highest standards of technical capability, quality and professionalism, follow process guidance, create training and support documents, prepare engineering work products and technical documentation, resolve complex problems, and communicate technical ideas concisely. • Develop and verify safety‑critical electrical, electronics, and mechatronics control system requirements per ARP4754A and DO‑178C. • Collaborate cross‑functionally to uphold high standards of technical quality, professionalism and teamwork. • Create and maintain process documentation, training materials, and engineering work products. • Resolve complex technical problems using deep engineering expertise.

Rolls-Royce is seeking a Control Systems Engineer for a full‑time, hybrid role in Indianapolis (three days on‑site). The position offers the chance to work on flagship programs, tackling complex technological challenges within a global, multidisciplinary team. Basic requirements include a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical or computer engineering and at least one year of product development experience; candidates must be U.S. citizens. Preferred qualifications are two or more years of product development, experience with requirements management, agile methods, military or FAA certification, gas‑turbine or electrical control systems, control system design tools, model‑based development (MATLAB/Simulink), systems engineering techniques, and SysML tools such as Cameo or MagicDraw. • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely. • Hold a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical or computer engineering; U.S. citizenship required. • 1‑2+ years product development experience with requirements management and agile methods. • Familiarity with military/FAA certification, gas‑turbine or electrical control systems, and control system design tools (MATLAB/Simulink). • Experience with model‑based systems engineering tools and SysML (e.g., Cameo/MagicDraw).
