About the Role

The Senior Rail Operations and Maintenance Specialist role sits within the Modelling and Operations team and guides rail transit operations and maintenance strategy from concept through delivery, ensuring systems are safe, efficient and responsive to users while influencing how Canadian cities move. The position collaborates with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver data‑driven operational solutions. • Lead operational planning and analysis for rail transit projects from early planning through operations and maintenance. • Develop, negotiate and manage Operating and Maintenance Agreements for transit projects. • Create ConOps, Operations Plans, Maintenance Plans, Operational Readiness Plans, training plans, SPFMA and O&M specifications. • Oversee operational simulation, interpret modelling results and present findings to agencies and client teams. • Apply system‑level design expertise to rail operations, track layout, traction power, signalling, tunnel ventilation and traffic interfaces. • Review technical reports and designs to verify O&M requirements and stakeholder alignment. • Build and maintain strong client relationships and industry networks. • Expand the Modelling and Operations practice by growing O&M capabilities across Canada. • Mentor and train junior staff across local and global teams. • Develop operating, maintenance and performance plans and conduct failure mode analysis. • Lead capacity modelling, timetable optimisation and routing studies.

What You Bring

• Hold an engineering degree and 10+ years of rail transit operations and maintenance experience. • Demonstrate strong knowledge of service planning, crew rostering, signalling systems (Fixed Block, ETCS, CBTC) and rail asset management. • Experience with business planning, budgeting, cost analysis and negotiating operating agreements. • Familiarity with LRT, metro, tram, commuter and mixed‑traffic rail environments; freight exposure is an asset.
