About the Role
The Senior Engineering Manager reports directly to the MSD Engineering Director and functionally to the Orchard Park Plant Manager. This role leads global engineering activities for actuation technologies, including Weapons Carriage and Release, Missile Actuation, Space Actuation, Emergency Actuation, Releases and Restraints, and the Pressure Technology Solutions product line. Responsibilities cover new product development, research and development programs, product support, and aftermarket services. Key responsibilities include building organizational capability, aligning global aerospace initiatives, and improving program execution through disciplined engineering processes. The manager oversees risk management, portfolio and resource planning using leading indicators and metrics, and implements performance measures across the organization. Additional focus areas are best‑cost‑country engineering, technology strategy refinement, and advancing capabilities for next‑generation products. The manager leads a global team of approximately 70 highly skilled engineers, providing functional leadership and fostering talent development within the engineering organization. Efforts emphasize efficiency improvements through creative management, effective use of engineering tools, training, and continuous improvement, while ensuring proper documentation, design standards, and material specifications. Collaboration with global Centers of Excellence supports seamless product development and the adoption of robust design practices such as DFSS, MBD, and MBSE. The role ensures proprietary rights and product liability concerns are addressed in partnership with corporate legal staff and forecasts worldwide aircraft system activities to identify product opportunities and threats. It establishes action plans with customers, drives a global engineering strategy, and supports the growth of the Pune, India engineering center. The manager monitors key engineering metrics, works closely with Operational Excellence for cost reductions, and maintains customer liaison for application reviews, new product requirements, and performance issue resolution. • Lead a global engineering organization (~70 staff) for actuation and pressure technology product lines. • Drive worldwide new product development, research programs, and aftermarket support. • Build organizational capability, align aerospace strategies, and improve program execution with disciplined processes. • Implement risk management, portfolio planning, and performance metrics to guide resource allocation. • Develop best‑cost‑country engineering capabilities and technology roadmaps for next‑generation systems. • Champion robust design (DFSS) and digital engineering practices such as MBD and MBSE. • Collaborate with Centers of Excellence, legal, and Operational Excellence to ensure compliance, cost reduction, and quality. • Forecast market trends, define action plans with customers, and expand talent pipelines through university partnerships. • Offer competitive benefits and affirm commitment to equal employment opportunity and accommodations for disabled applicants.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in engineering, U.S. citizenship, and at least 15 years of aerospace experience, with 10 years in new product development and 8 years of leadership of global teams. Candidates must have experience in pneumatic actuation or environmental systems, a proven track record of technology development, portfolio and program management, and participation in aerospace professional organizations. Strong leadership, creative thinking, and the ability to drive change are essential. • Require a BS in Engineering, U.S. citizenship, 15+ years aerospace experience (including pneumatic actuation) and proven global leadership.
