About the Role
• Lead the ISRDS quantum computing task and serve as primary interface with NASA Ames QuAIL. • Conduct research on quantum error correction, quantum algorithms, and fundamental quantum mechanisms for near‑term and fault‑tolerant applications. • Supervise and mentor researchers in quantum computation, and may support related quantum science, data science, and AI initiatives. • Lead technical proposal efforts and evaluate performance of quantum, hybrid, and classical algorithms and architectures.

What You Bring
KBR is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to support NASA Ames’ Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab (QuAIL). The role requires deep expertise in quantum algorithms, quantum simulation, quantum error correction, and the underlying physics, as well as at least six years of experience with quantum hardware and classical simulators. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, and demonstrate a proven record of leading small research teams. Strong interest in management development, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to evaluate quantum‑classical hybrid approaches are essential. • Hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 6+ years of quantum computing experience. • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams, strong interest in management development, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

The position offers a salary range of $169,800 to $254,700, adjusted for contract affordability, location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
