About the Role
Project Engineers work with experienced Project Management and Field Supervision staff and assist with the overall safety, direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects from initial budget through project closeout. Safety is the number one priority at Pepper Construction and Project Engineer I’s are expected to promote and exemplify safe work practices. They collaborate with team members at all levels to establish operational priorities, ensure quality, and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. • Perform duties under the guidance of a Project Manager. • Ensure customer satisfaction by exceeding client needs. • Estimate, value engineer, and develop project budgets. • Facilitate subcontractor bid process, handling documentation and tracking. • Use software and templates to process, distribute, and track project documents. • Negotiate subcontractor and material buyouts and develop subcontracts. • Plan and schedule project activities. • Manage ongoing jobs, coordinating subcontractors, resolving conflicts, and ensuring quality and safety. • Control project costs by evaluating labor, material, and equipment and forecasting profitability. • Execute project closeout procedures. • Build and maintain strong working relationships.

What You Bring
• Prefer a B.S. in Construction, Engineering, or related field. • Prefer prior co‑op or internship experience in construction. • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. • Self‑motivated; capable of independent and team work.
