About the Role
You will work a consistent Monday‑Friday schedule on the 3rd shift from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, with occasional weekends. The job is based in WM’s repair and maintenance shop in San Leandro, California, operating both indoors in a garage and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Each day you will service trucks and equipment that support over 20 million customers across the United States. Using modern tools and procedures, you will maintain diesel equipment and, at select locations, the growing fleet of CNG trucks, ensuring each vehicle leaves the shop ready to serve the community. • Diagnose, repair, and rebuild hydraulic, electrical, air, and suspension systems on trucks and equipment. • Perform safety inspections, emergency breakdown service calls, and complete required paperwork. • Estimate time and material costs, adhere to Standard Labor Repair Times, and document parts usage. • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA and corporate safety standards. • Meet physical demands such as lifting, crouching, standing, and exposure to shop and outdoor conditions. • Work Monday‑Friday 3rd shift (2:00 pm‑10:30 pm) with occasional weekends at the San Leandro, CA shop.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate brings four or more years of journeyman experience repairing tractor‑trailer and truck systems. Expertise includes diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding hydraulic valves, cylinders, hoses, electrical, air control, and suspension systems, as well as strong diagnostic skills, Cummins engine knowledge, and transmission repairs. The position demands physical effort such as frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing, and constant standing and walking. You will be exposed to typical shop hazards—cuts, burns, chemicals—as well as noise, odors, and outdoor elements like heat and humidity.
