About the Role
The Field Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, or overhauling mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, and conveyors used in construction and surface mining. The role requires a working knowledge of DC electrical systems, the ability to provide personal tools, and adherence to safety hazards associated with plant operations or construction job sites. The position is based in LaPorte, Texas. • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts • Fit bearings and adjust, repair, or overhaul mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment • Read and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear • Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance • Assist other craft workers as needed

What You Bring
The job demands physical capabilities including lifting up to 50 lb (occasionally 100 lb), climbing, balancing on scaffolds, and working in diverse weather and terrain conditions, as well as the ability to operate hand and power tools, drive various vehicles, and work in confined spaces. Mentally, the mechanic must communicate effectively with supervisors, perform calculations, maintain detail‑orientation, make decisions, and stay focused amid distractions.
