About the Role
The Safety Engineer role in Sharjah, UAE, is responsible for ensuring that all safety plans comply with corporate policy, regional legislation, and client requirements. Reporting to the resident engineer, the incumbent will coordinate with safety managers, contractors, and project teams to implement, monitor, and continuously improve HSE performance on highway, bridge, and underpass projects. Physical presence for interviews in the UAE is required. • Implement corporate HSE policy, plans, and legislation while monitoring performance and setting improvement targets. • Ensure client safety requirements are fully met and collaborate with safety managers and contractors. • Review and approve site safety, emergency, method statements, risk analyses, and contractor HSE documentation. • Conduct regular HSE inspections, report findings to the resident engineer, and drive immediate corrective actions. • Lead monthly safety meetings, prepare minutes, and track outstanding issues to resolution. • Oversee emergency preparedness, permit‑to‑work systems, toolbox talks, and maintain HSE statistics and records. • Review incident/accident investigation reports, communicate lessons learned, and monitor follow‑up actions.

What You Bring
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or a related engineering discipline. • Possess at least 8 years of highway, bridge, and underpass safety engineering experience in the UAE. • Hold recognized safety certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, Safety Diploma, First Aid, and Fire Safety. • Demonstrate working knowledge of UAE Federal Laws, Dubai Municipality construction safety codes, RTA circulars, and work‑zone traffic management manuals. • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills; ISO 45001/14001 audit knowledge is a plus.
