About the Role

Job Summary: The worker performs various tasks in a landfill, including containing loose refuse to prevent scattering and directing traffic. Key duties include manually picking up wind‑blown paper along the landfill perimeter, using a large plastic bag to collect debris, and operating a mobile vacuum mounted on a tractor to remove paper and refuse from the fenced border and adjacent land. During high‑traffic summer periods, the laborer may be assigned to the landfill entrance to direct truck flow using verbal commands or hand signals. The role also involves lifting construction materials, using hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes and chainsaws, and separating metal, white goods, lumber and cardboard on the transfer station floor. • Perform manual collection of wind‑blown paper and debris along landfill perimeters. • Operate a tractor‑mounted mobile vacuum to suction loose refuse from fences and surrounding land. • Direct truck traffic at the landfill entrance during peak summer periods using verbal and hand signals. • Lift and transport construction materials such as lumber, concrete bags, and hand tools. • Use hand tools (shovels, picks, axes, chainsaws) for site maintenance tasks. • Separate metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard on the transfer‑station tipping floor.
