About the Role

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to provide management, leadership, direction, and support within Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program for multiple project teams and construction sites. The Senior Safety Manager will lead the implementation of the Zero Injury Safety Program, collaborate across organizations and trade partners, conduct hazard assessments, develop and deliver training, oversee safety documentation and analysis, monitor construction activities, lead incident reporting, mentor safety staff, maintain regulatory knowledge, and support safety leadership in achieving performance metrics and incident response. • Plan, lead, and manage implementation of Zero Injury Safety Program elements across the operating group. • Collaborate on safety programs with trade partners, joint‑venture partners, and multiple organizations. • Conduct and review site hazard assessments during planning and construction phases. • Develop, schedule, and deliver safety training, including train‑the‑trainer sessions and project‑specific orientations. • Oversee documentation, tracking, and analysis of safety, injury, and hazard statistics, trends, and OSHA reports. • Perform on‑site audits and observations, documenting deficiencies and corrective actions. • Lead incident reporting, investigations, analyses, and coach safety managers on high‑risk plan reviews. • Provide mentorship, professional development, and learning sessions for safety staff. • Maintain knowledge of construction safety standards, OSHA, ANSI, and relevant regulations. • Support the safety director and leadership team in meeting performance metrics and assist in incident response.

What You Bring

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field, or a high school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500 and at least 14 years of construction experience, including eight years as a dedicated construction safety professional. Preferred qualifications include CSP certification, experience managing large, complex projects with high subcontractor volumes, and leading a team of safety professionals. • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field (or high school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500 and 14 years construction experience). • Minimum eight years as a dedicated construction safety professional managing large or multi‑project safety programs. • Experience on large, complex projects with high subcontractor volumes. • Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation and experience managing a team of safety professionals. • Strong organizational, computer, public speaking, presentation, teamwork, problem‑solving, and leadership skills. • Ability to coach and influence operating group and project leaders in safety management. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%. • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans.

The base salary ranges from $113,500 to $170,300 (higher in select locations) and includes eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
