About the Role
The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the mechanical and electrical aspects of surface mining equipment, as well as commissioning new machines and providing on‑site training to customers. Key duties include inspecting equipment for proper performance, adjusting and replacing defective components to restore original specifications, testing repaired units, completing accurate time records and technical reports, maintaining service‑truck inventory, and staying current with industry and product developments. Health and safety responsibilities require compliance with all safety policies and regulations, performing “Take Five” risk assessments before tasks, reporting unsafe conditions or near‑misses, maintaining tools and a clean work area, wearing required personal protective equipment, and participating in safety training. • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical components of surface mining equipment. • Inspect equipment to verify performance and identify faults. • Adjust, replace, or repair parts to restore equipment to original specifications. • Test repaired equipment and commission new machinery at customer sites. • Complete accurate time records, technical and failure reports, and parts lists. • Maintain service‑truck inventory and ensure regular maintenance. • Stay updated on industry, product, and technical best practices. • Follow safety policies, conduct “Take Five” risk assessments, and report unsafe conditions. • Maintain hand tools, ensure a clean work area, and wear required PPE.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a diploma or certificate in a mechanical/electrical field (or equivalent experience), have at least five years of experience with surface mining equipment, and possess the ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics. Bilingual ability in French is an asset, as is prior experience with Sandvik equipment. Strong communication skills, computer literacy in MS Office, a valid driver’s licence, and willingness to travel and work varied shifts are also required. • Hold a mechanical/electrical diploma or equivalent and at least five years of mining equipment experience. • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics and communicate effectively in English (French a plus). • Valid driver’s licence, willingness to travel across Canada and work varied shifts.
