About the Role

The Wastewater Operator III is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a wastewater treatment facility. This role monitors system performance, makes treatment adjustments, and ensures that critical equipment such as pumps, conveyors, blowers, and vacuum systems remain operational. Key duties include monitoring effluent to maintain compliance, verifying inbound waste loads, directing drivers to follow site safety procedures, and collaborating with other operators and management to resolve treatment issues. The operator records daily system readings, enters data into information systems, reviews maintenance records, performs routine laboratory sampling and testing, and conducts indoor and outdoor housekeeping to keep the work environment safe. • Monitor effluent and adjust treatment to maintain compliance. • Verify inbound waste loads meet parameters and protect plant health. • Direct drivers to follow site safety procedures. • Collaborate with operators and management to resolve treatment issues. • Report equipment malfunctions, spills, and compliance concerns promptly. • Record daily system readings, inspections, and enter data into information systems. • Review maintenance and repair records, escalating issues as needed. • Perform routine laboratory sampling and testing according to procedures. • Conduct indoor and outdoor housekeeping to maintain a safe work environment. • Maintain accurate logs of waste received and shipped. • Prioritize tasks, stay focused, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively. • Solve problems and troubleshoot plant issues independently.

What You Bring

Candidates must have 4–7 years of related experience, a current 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain one), and strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, collection systems, and supporting electrical/hydraulic equipment. Required skills include precise laboratory sampling, attention to detail, multitasking, problem‑solving, clear communication, and the ability to exercise independent judgment. • Hold current 40‑Hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain it. • Apply knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, electrical and hydraulic systems. • Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical and electrical theory for pumps and related equipment. • Communicate clearly with supervisors, operators, and drivers.
