About the Role
The incumbent will support plant leadership in achieving business and financial objectives by developing and maintaining robust manufacturing processes and driving the organization’s lean transformation. Key duties include executing the strategic plan in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements; designing and implementing tooling layouts; providing process‑improvement and troubleshooting support to production teams; and collaborating with product design on new‑product tooling, factory layout, and continuous‑improvement initiatives such as Kaizen events, Six Sigma tools, and 5S. The role will lead and facilitate Kaizen activities, including Value Stream Mapping and strategic initiatives with High Performance Work Teams, identify improvement opportunities, analyze data, and develop action plans to boost efficiency and cut costs. Additionally, the engineer will manage projects, conduct reviews, communicate progress, and apply methods to reduce variation and manage tolerance stacks in assemblies. • Lead lean transformation and develop robust manufacturing processes. • Execute strategic plan while ensuring regulatory, industry, and customer compliance. • Design and implement tooling layouts and support production troubleshooting. • Collaborate with product design on new‑product tooling, factory layout, and continuous‑improvement initiatives. • Facilitate Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, and strategic initiatives with High Performance Work Teams. • Identify improvement opportunities, analyze data, and implement cost‑reduction action plans. • Manage projects, conduct reviews, and communicate status to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery. • Perform root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for product or material discrepancies. • Apply Six Sigma, 5S, and variation‑reduction techniques to enhance process stability.

What You Bring
A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering is required, along with at least three years of experience applying lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles, two years of CNC programming for milling and turning, proficiency in Pro/E, CATIA, and Microsoft Office, and one year of project‑management experience. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, meet U.S. export‑control “U.S. person” criteria, and reside within 50 mi of Beltsville, MD (active‑duty military exempt). No relocation assistance is provided. The position demands strong communication skills, the ability to act as a change agent, and the capability to diagnose complex problems, evaluate options, and make cost‑benefit‑driven decisions. Certain duties are subject to the Repair Station Certificate guidelines and DOT drug testing. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. • Minimum three years lean/Six Sigma manufacturing experience and two years CNC programming (milling & turning). • Proficient with Pro/E, CATIA, and Microsoft Office; at least one year project‑management experience. • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and meet export‑control “U.S. person” criteria. • Reside within 50 mi of Beltsville, MD (active‑duty military exempt); no relocation assistance offered. • Demonstrated communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities; subject to DOT drug testing.
