About the Role
KBR’s National Security Solutions team is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support critical national security missions. The role will provide enterprise‑level database support to the Test Resource Management Center’s All Domain Test Range and multiple DoD network nodes, ensuring operational reliability for space reconnaissance and other intelligence initiatives. The senior DBA will evaluate customer and TRMC system requirements, design and maintain secure database architectures, and keep the infrastructure compliant with DoD STIG and RMF directives. The position involves close coordination with distributed teams to plan, implement, and enhance current systems while addressing complex technical challenges. • Lead design and implementation of scalable enterprise database solutions, focusing on AlwaysOn high availability and disaster recovery. • Serve as primary lead for DoD STIG compliance, ensuring all SQL instances meet federal security and RMF requirements. • Monitor and optimise high‑volume T‑SQL queries, addressing issues such as parameter sniffing, inefficient execution plans and deadlocks. • Act as Tier 3 escalation point, using SQL Profiler, Extended Events and Query Store to resolve performance crises. • Partner with distributed teams to translate customer requirements into secure, functional database architectures. • Obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance with TS/SCI eligibility. • Apply DoD STIG hardening protocols to databases and database applications. • Tune engine settings including MAXDOP, cost threshold for parallelism, memory allocation, and manage isolation levels (Snapshot, RCSI) to prevent blocking.
