About the Role

The Recycling Center Maintenance Technician performs repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, compact heavy equipment and light trucks to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include routine maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems, recycling equipment such as sorting screens, optical sorters, magnets, eddy currents, electrical systems, balers, conveyor systems and compactors. The technician diagnoses mechanical problems using charts, diagnostic software, manuals and expertise, and performs repairs on hydraulic, electrical, transmission, engine, baler, conveyor and compactor systems. Work orders guide part replacement, overhauls, and field service reporting, while daily consumables reports track fuel and oil usage. Preventive maintenance follows standard schedules, and the role may involve plumbing, HVAC, odor and negative‑pressure system work, equipment installation, PLC programming, and vendor coordination. Safety policies are strictly followed and other duties are performed as assigned.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least one year of experience with building maintenance, HVAC, odor and negative‑pressure systems, and three years working on equipment in a manufacturing or distribution setting. Required knowledge includes Tier 4 emission systems, welding or fabrication, PLC programming, and electronic diagnostics, plus a valid driver’s license, mechanical or trade school certificate. A minimum of one year of equipment maintenance and repair experience is required.
