About the Role

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor oversees a maintenance shop within the broader scope of a Maintenance Manager, directing a technician team responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs of the fleet, post‑collection facility machinery, and container shop equipment while ensuring compliance with safety, federal, and state regulations. The role involves planning and scheduling repair work to minimize downtime, conducting inspections of internal and external repairs, managing inventory levels, overseeing complex diagnostics, and handling administrative duties such as payroll, record‑keeping, budgeting, and documentation in Dossier Maintenance Software. • Direct A, B, and C level technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and timely repair and maintenance work. • Monitor operational performance and reallocate activities to improve efficiency. • Report performance metrics to management and recommend process improvements. • Supervise shop staff through daily huddles, fleet walks, coaching, counseling, and training; make hiring and termination decisions with HR. • Conduct employee performance evaluations and recommend merit increases, promotions, or job changes. • Inspect third‑party repairs for compliance with safety, federal, and state regulations and follow up as needed. • Identify training needs, document issues, and provide corrective action to technicians. • Perform quality‑control inspections, track issues, and ensure resolution according to compliance standards. • Oversee complex diagnostic repairs, including road‑testing vehicles when required. • Manage inventory control, maintain parts levels, and approve purchases within budgetary limits. • Apply advanced knowledge of engine, emission, transmission, brake, hydraulic, electrical, HVAC, and welding systems to diagnose and repair heavy equipment. • Administer payroll, maintain employee and maintenance records in Dossier Maintenance Software, prepare budgets, and set departmental goals aligned with corporate objectives. • Participate in Employee and Family Assistance Program, employee discount programs, 401(k) with company match, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

What You Bring

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, hold ASE certifications (including T3‑T7, T2 Diesel Engine, and Master Certified), possess at least three years of heavy‑equipment maintenance experience, and have one year of supervisory experience with knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and related regulations. • Hold ASE certifications: T3 (Drive), T4 (Brake), T5 (Suspension & Steering), T6 (Electrical/Electronic), T7 (HVAC), T2 Diesel Engine, and Master Certified. • Possess at least three years of heavy‑equipment maintenance experience and one year of supervisory experience.
