About the Role

The role of OPIR Analyst (Overhead Persistent Infrared) at KBR supports critical national security missions by exploiting OPIR sensor data to detect, characterize, and report missile events, thermal signatures, and other time‑sensitive activities. The analyst applies advanced remote sensing techniques and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) methodologies to produce actionable intelligence for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the National Geospatial‑Intelligence Agency (NGA), and other interagency partners. Key responsibilities include exploiting OPIR and other remotely sensed data to identify facilities, infrastructure, and features of interest, and detecting, tracking, and characterizing thermal events, missile launches, and industrial activity in the infrared spectrum. The analyst produces high‑quality intelligence reports and briefings for multi‑agency customers, maintains an enterprise geodatabase of over 170,000 features, and develops ArcGIS Portal web apps to disseminate intelligence products. Additional duties involve generating metrics‑based products to quantify mission impact, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to integrate OPIR insights with other GEOINT sources, and staying current with evolving OPIR sensor capabilities and processing techniques. • Exploit OPIR and other remote sensing data to identify facilities and events based on PIR‑driven analysis. • Detect, track, and characterize thermal events, missile launches, and industrial activity in the infrared spectrum. • Produce high‑quality intelligence reports and briefings for DIA, NGA, senior policymakers, and operational customers. • Maintain and update an enterprise geodatabase of 170,000+ features supporting multiple analytic teams. • Develop and manage ArcGIS Portal web apps/sites to disseminate intelligence products and enable collaborative analysis. • Generate metrics‑based intelligence products to quantify mission impact and analytic performance. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate OPIR insights with EO, SAR, MASINT, and other GEOINT sources. • Stay current with evolving OPIR sensor capabilities, processing techniques, and analytic tradecraft.

Key Responsibilities

  • opir analysis
  • event detection
  • geodatabase management
  • portal development
  • metrics production
  • data integration

What You Bring

Required qualifications include an active TS/SCI security clearance and a bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field, with a master's preferred. Candidates must have at least five years of professional experience in OPIR analysis, missile warning/tracking, or infrared remote sensing, and demonstrate strong proficiency with the ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, Portal administration, and enterprise geodatabase management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑tempo environment with time‑sensitive deliverables are essential. Preferred qualifications include experience with OPIR‑specific tools such as AGIE, RemoteView, or ENVI, and familiarity with missile event detection workflows. Knowledge of additional sensor modalities (multispectral, hyperspectral, SAR) and multi‑INT fusion, as well as scripting experience in Python (ArcPy) or MATLAB for automation, is desirable. Prior military, DIA, NGA, or IC analytic experience and relevant GEOINT certifications are also valued. • Hold an active TS/SCI security clearance and a bachelor’s (or master’s) degree in a relevant STEM discipline. • Possess 5+ years of experience in OPIR analysis, missile warning/tracking, or infrared remote sensing. • Demonstrate advanced proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, Portal administration, and enterprise geodatabase management. • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills for authoring reports and briefing senior stakeholders. • Preferred: experience with OPIR tools such as AGIE, RemoteView, ENVI, or equivalent platforms. • Preferred: scripting expertise in Python (ArcPy) or MATLAB for automation and custom processing. • Preferred: prior military, DIA, NGA, or IC analytic experience and relevant GEOINT certifications.
