About the Role

The Project Manager will oversee the financial health of projects, lead EPC contract negotiations, and manage vendor procurement and bid award processes. Responsibilities also include developing financial and equipment projections, allocating estimates in the financial system, handling invoicing and owner billing, and supervising subcontracts, budgets, and trade partner selections. Additionally, the manager will guide Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, approve timecards, and provide performance feedback. • Manage overall financial health of projects • Support and lead EPC contract negotiations, including technical exhibits and project schedules • Lead vendor procurement and bid/award phase for major subs and suppliers • Develop and maintain project financial and equipment projections • Allocate project estimate into financial system, determine cost codes, approve invoices • Provide financials and billings to accounting, create monthly owner billings • Manage subcontracts and suppliers, oversee budget and selections of trade partners • Handle billings, contract management, and change orders • Manage and develop Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, approve timecards, provide feedback

What You Bring

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Manager I to lead projects with professionalism, flexibility, and resourcefulness in a dynamic environment. The role includes managing project quality, timeliness, and safety, mentoring the project team, and building strong customer relationships through excellent service and communication. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or construction field or possess equivalent experience, and have at least six years of related experience. They should demonstrate ability to manage complex projects, strong attention to detail, basic knowledge of construction law, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and project‑management applications. A positive, professional attitude, strong customer‑service skills, a current driver’s license, and preferably experience in commercial construction, renewable energy, EPC contracting, or emerging technologies are required. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship; Mortenson does not sponsor employment visas for this role. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience • Minimum six years of related experience • Proven ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projects • Detail‑oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks • Basic understanding of construction law and standard business practices • Preference for experience in commercial construction, renewable energy project development, EPC contracting, or emerging technologies • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management, and relevant web applications • Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies • Current driver’s license

Benefits

The first assignment will be in Wyoming, after which the incumbent may choose to return to Denver or continue traveling. The position offers a base salary ranging from $113,500 to $170,300, with higher ranges for certain locations, and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
