About the Role

The engineer will design power delivery infrastructure, including transmission and distribution lines and substations, perform structural analysis of monopole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures, and prepare detailed calculations for foundations, material quantities, and overhead power structures. Collaboration is essential, requiring daily interaction with cross‑functional teams, participation in internal and client project meetings, coordination of as‑built drawings, development of design reports, and mentorship of junior staff to grow the practice. • Design transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure. • Perform structural analysis for monopole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures. • Develop detailed calculations for foundations, material quantities, and overhead power structures. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and attend internal and client project meetings. • Coordinate and verify as‑built drawings and produce design reports. • Mentor and train junior engineers to expand the Power Delivery practice.

Kimley‑Horn's Denver, Colorado office is seeking a Transmission Engineer with six or more years of experience to join its Power Delivery team in an in‑person role. Candidates must have at least six years of experience in transmission, distribution, or communication line design, a Professional Engineering license (or the ability to obtain one within 12 months), a bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, and solid knowledge of the NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards, along with a willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with the National Electric Safety Code, Rural Utility Service bulletins, ASCE‑7, California General Order 95, experience with PLS‑CADD or PLS‑Pole modeling, and lattice tower design expertise. • Hold six or more years of experience in transmission, distribution, or communication line design. • Possess (or obtain within 12 months) a Professional Engineering license. • Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and related industry standards. • Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings. • Experience with PLS‑CADD/PLS‑Pole modeling and lattice tower design (preferred).
