About the Role
Key duties encompass installation and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment, routine maintenance and inspections to sustain facility uptime, client‑service activities such as reporting conditions and participating in projects, and administrative tasks including documentation, inventory control, and expense submission. • Installs air conditioning, heating, and related equipment and components. • Overhauls and services air conditioning and heating units and systems. • Repairs, replaces, and adjusts worn or broken HVAC parts. • Repairs and adjusts valves, piping connections, fittings, and couplings. • Installs motors, thermostats, and humidistats. • Performs work according to established processes and practices. • Complies with internal and external environmental, health, safety, and fire‑protection requirements. • Responds to routine and on‑demand service requests, providing preventative and corrective maintenance. • Conducts regular monitoring, inspections, and walkthroughs of mechanical and electrical equipment. • Assists in implementing a preventative maintenance (PM) program and escalates deficiencies. • Maintains accurate inventory of tools/equipment and arranges repairs or replacements. • Provides observations on facility mechanical conditions and recommends enhancements or repairs. • Participates in facility‑related projects. • Ensures work complies with corporate and legislative policies, procedures, and guidelines. • Submits all expenditures in a timely manner. • Must wear personal protective equipment.

What You Bring
The HVAC Journeyperson or Apprentice Roving holds a valid provincial Certificate of Qualification and is responsible for operating, maintaining, and servicing mechanical systems at assigned facilities. Duties include performing preventative and corrective maintenance, responding to service requests, and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, safety, security, and fire‑protection requirements. Applicants must possess a college diploma or certification, be a licensed HVAC/Refrigeration Technician or registered apprentice, and demonstrate strong troubleshooting, safety, and client‑service orientation. Current knowledge of fire, life, safety and building codes, as well as effective communication and mentoring abilities, are required. A valid driver’s licence, willingness to work shifts and on‑call rotations, and the ability to wear personal protective equipment are also essential. • Diagnoses and troubleshoots problems with heating and air conditioning units and systems. • College diploma or certification required. • Licensed HVAC/Refrigeration Technician or registered apprentice. • Strong ability to follow and execute facility operations processes. • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve building mechanical systems. • Current knowledge of fire, life, safety, and building codes; able to apply them. • Strong environmental, health, and safety mindset. • Client‑service orientation with high sense of urgency. • Effective communication for data relay and feedback. • Mentoring skills to support lower‑level technicians. • Willingness to work shifts, on‑call/standby, and emergency call‑outs. • Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements. • Valid driver’s licence. • Valid HVAC Certificate of Qualification issued by the province (e.g., 313A in Ontario) or registered apprentice status. • Minimum Gasfitter II license in addition to refrigeration license. • Working towards Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1 – asset. • Facilities Technician Certification – asset. • Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) certification – asset.
