What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an EAC/ABET‑accredited program, or an equivalent qualification evaluated by NCEES, or a master’s/doctoral degree from an accredited institution. One to three years of experience in electrical substation engineering is required, and a passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam is preferred. On‑the‑job training will be provided as needed. The role requires the ability to read and interpret technical documents, write simple correspondence, and present information effectively to managers, clients, and the public. Mathematical skills include basic arithmetic, fractions, percentages, ratios, algebra, and geometry, as well as the ability to work with spreadsheets. Key abilities include understanding basic electrical engineering theories, researching design issues, evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations. Proficiency with substation construction standards, project management principles, and software such as Bentley MicroStation, ProjectWise, WinIGS, or CDEGS is desired. Strong written and oral communication, teamwork, customer focus, self‑motivation, and the capability to travel to greenfield and brownfield sites are also important. Physical demands involve regularly sitting, standing, walking, and using hands for tools, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 10 lb. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. The work environment may include moderate noise and occasional exposure to outdoor weather, humidity, and a risk of electrical shock.
