About the Role

• Conduct and support surgical procedures and maintain operating‑room standards for laboratory animals. • Perform animal health surveillance, disease prevention, and ensure specific‑pathogen‑free techniques. • Handle, restrain, and care for various small and large animal species daily. • Maintain biosafety practices, sterile equipment, pest control, and quality‑assurance procedures. • Inspect contractor‑responsible areas daily/weekly to ensure compliance with standards. • Prepare purchase requests for animal procurement and coordinate shipping procedures. • Manage inventory of supplies and laboratory equipment. • Coordinate research activities among contract research scientists, animal‑care staff, and lab technicians. • Supervise and mentor junior‑level contract personnel. • Set up, operate, modify, and maintain laboratory equipment and apparatus.

Parsons is seeking a Veterinarian Technician III to support the Naval Medical Research Unit – San Antonio (NAMRU‑SA) and its collaborating institutions in advanced care and management of laboratory animals. The role supports NAMRU‑SA’s mission to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of DoD personnel. • Hold Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) certification and a Veterinary Technician degree, or possess a high school diploma/GED with five years of related experience. • Demonstrated ability to conduct surgical procedures and uphold operating‑room standards. • Skilled in handling and restraining diverse animal species. • Strong knowledge of biosafety practices and experience supervising junior staff. • Excellent organizational skills for coordinating research activities and equipment maintenance. • No security clearance required for this position.
