About the Role

The estimating function must deliver robust, integrated cost plans that provide value for money, supported by benchmarking data, and maintain an integrated baseline of scope, cost and time within project controls, while also pricing risk and change values. This role sits within the Water Sector Cost & Commercial Management team, focusing on lifecycle costing and working closely with estimating and carbon services. It involves supporting whole‑life cost advice, developing cost models, option appraisals, and providing data for economic and business cases. • Provide lifecycle cost advice and optimise whole‑life costs for a range of assets. • Develop whole‑life cost models, option appraisals and economic/business case data. • Support whole‑life cost outputs and data for economic and business cases. • Conduct research, data gathering, quantitative analysis (lifecycle, energy, risk) and evaluate results. • Assist the service lead with estimating and cost planning activities. • Quick and efficient information review.

What You Bring

Within our business we harness leading‑edge practical expertise and project delivery to unlock each project's potential. • Experience in a consultancy/commercial environment in a similar role. • Strong understanding of whole‑life cost measurement, calculations and modelling; able to convey principles to all team levels. • Ability to handle large data sets for whole‑life costing, preparing models, reports and economic appraisals. • Knowledge of value engineering and lifecycle costing. • Proven ability to meet overlapping/tight deadlines with accurate, timely outputs. • Excellent technical writing, communication and presentation skills; commercially astute. • Awareness of sustainability, social value, carbon reduction, and public sector issues. • Understanding of CAPEX vs OPEX cost analysis. • Minimum 2:1 degree in any discipline. • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, with strong IT skills. • Degree in quantity surveying or cost management (desirable). • Professional membership such as MRICS/RICS (desirable).
