About the Role
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will design heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, and plumbing systems for large federal, commercial, and institutional projects, perform construction administration including review of shop drawings, RFIs and change orders, evaluate alternative design approaches, conduct site visits, and ensure projects meet quality, budget, and schedule criteria. They will also assist in proposal preparation, present designs to clients, review specifications, mentor staff, and serve as lead engineer on mid‑ to large‑size projects. • Design HVAC and plumbing systems for large federal, commercial, and institutional facilities. • Perform construction administration, reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor change orders. • Evaluate feasibility of alternative design approaches with senior team members. • Conduct site/field visits to assess existing conditions and equipment. • Organize and plan projects to meet quality, budget, and schedule criteria. • Prepare proposals and present designs to clients. • Mentor junior engineers and review/edit specifications. • Serve as lead engineer on mid‑ to large‑size projects.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program, be a licensed Professional Engineer, and have at least eight years of HVAC and plumbing design experience (ten years preferred). Preferred skills include proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit, building load calculations, energy modeling, and experience with design‑build, cost estimating, and instrumentation and controls. U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract and security requirements, and sponsorship is not available for this position. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited) and a Professional Engineer (PE) license. • Possess 8+ years (preferably 10+) of HVAC and plumbing design experience. • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, building load calculations, and energy modeling. • Experience with design‑build, cost estimating, instrumentation and controls is a plus. • Ability to work on multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple projects, and communicate designs effectively. • U.S. citizenship required due to federal contract/security requirements.
