About the Role

Position Description: Manage overall day‑to‑day activity of the office accounting department and oversight of all office accounting staff. The role reports to the Financial Manager, Operational Finance. • Foster a supportive environment, develop high‑performing finance team, provide training and mentorship. • Lead accountants and team members, give timely performance feedback and support appraisals using talent management systems. • Review quarterly account reconciliations and recommend improvements to the Financial Manager. • Review monthly G&A monitor and assist in updating forecasts. • Analyze and update estimating recovery monitor; review with Financial Manager and Chief Estimator. • Manage petty cash, payroll, and joint‑venture bank account reconciliations. • Review and approve monthly journal entries. • Resolve daily office issues, including vendor disputes, escalating as needed. • Review office contracts and lease agreements before submission for approval. • Ensure builders risk log is complete and insurance coverage is in place. • Review and approve orders from external suppliers. • Review charitable contribution requests for policy compliance. • Exercise independent judgment, identify problems, and initiate corrective action. • Manage multiple activities, requests, and short‑cycle deadlines simultaneously. • Observe performance and provide effective feedback.

What You Bring

The physical demands of this role include the ability to climb stairs and ladders, use construction hoists, handle tools, and perform activities such as standing, stooping, kneeling, and occasional lifting of heavy weight. Vision requirements include close, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with 5+ years of experience (or equivalent education/experience). • Construction industry experience preferred. • Experience supervising/managing a small team preferred. • Strong application of accounting principles (journal entries, general ledger). • Ability to analyze financial data, interpret trends, and identify inconsistencies. • Understanding of accounting implications of contract terms. • Knowledge of cash flow management and procedures to optimize interest income. • Familiarity with policies and standards to ensure compliance and identify financial risks. • Ability to drive profitability and manage risk, communicating risk issues effectively. • Proficient with financial systems, MS Excel, and MS Office. • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and able to work with minimal supervision in a changing environment. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail. • Ability to travel as needed.
