About the Role
The Senior Project Engineer role offers the chance to influence transit and infrastructure projects in the Greater Toronto Area. Working in a hybrid model, the engineer will spend at least two days per week on‑site with the client to drive collaboration, problem‑solving and delivery excellence. The position supports a major client by coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and guiding complex construction initiatives. In this role you will oversee the delivery of capital projects, ensuring that design, construction and contractual elements meet defined quality, budget and schedule criteria. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, drive constructability reviews and support the preparation of technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle. • Develop project concepts and detailed scope of work aligned with stakeholder requirements. • Define quality standards, budget limits, schedule expectations, and breakdown structures. • Prepare and secure approval for scope and construction review documents and contract specifications. • Manage design progress from preliminary through detailed phases and conduct constructability reviews. • Lead design review meetings to assess constructability and maintainability. • Approve engineering work plans ensuring adherence to scope, schedule and budget. • Coordinate design compliance across departments by integrating constructability and maintainability criteria. • Conduct alternative analyses, engineering studies and life‑cycle cost assessments for cost‑effective solutions. • Oversee preparation of construction contract documents and technical specifications. • Supervise technical specification development and provide engineering support during construction. • Manage contract changes, ensure technical compliance and lead close‑out documentation review. • Prepare Project Summary Sheets, Justification Reports and coordinate budgeting with estimating teams. • Generate project administration documents such as work plans, change orders, procurement requests and status reports. • Effectively manage complex stakeholder groups and navigate technical, operational and schedule‑driven requirements. • Prepare and review technical contract documents, scopes, specifications and engineering reports.

What You Bring
Candidates must be a licensed professional engineer or architect with extensive experience in transit infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of construction legislation, contracting processes and stakeholder management is required. Proficiency with standard office and engineering administration tools is essential. • Hold a Professional Engineering (PEO) or Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) licence. • Bring at least seven years of experience delivering engineering and construction projects in a transit operating environment. • Possess hands‑on experience with heavy construction or large, multidisciplinary capital programs. • Understand the Construction Act, contracting processes, inspection practices and core engineering principles. • Utilize Microsoft Office and common engineering project‑administration tools proficiently.
