About the Role
In this role you will support private‑sector and local‑authority clients on residential and mixed‑use development and master‑planning projects, providing specialist advice on access, transportation, and infrastructure, and guiding proposals through the planning process. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with planning, infrastructure design, structures, transport and environmental teams, as well as other WSP disciplines on major multi‑disciplinary developments across the north of England, Scotland, N. Ireland and internationally. • Deliver concept studies, transport statements, assessments, travel plans, parking and access studies to support planning applications. • Lead proactive client and stakeholder engagement to build collaborative relationships. • Maintain high technical competence and service excellence in client interactions. • Stay current with transport standards and policies; raise WSP’s profile through networking and conferences. • Mentor and support technical staff across grades. • Manage project budgets, programmes, technical standards and legal requirements. • Conduct site appraisal, due diligence and provide strategic planning advice. • Produce concept studies and strategies for development projects. • Prepare transport statements, assessments and travel plans. • Conduct parking demand, access and movement studies. • Provide line‑management and day‑to‑day team leadership.

What You Bring
At WSP you can tap into global scale, contribute to landmark projects and collaborate with leading minds to do the best work of your life, while embracing curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. • Hold a degree in Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning or a related field. • Demonstrate experience as lead client contact and strong written communication skills. • Possess knowledge of transport planning guidance, best practice and relevant standards. • Have extensive experience delivering transport planning projects, including sustainable transport and junction design. • Proficient in junction modelling software (e.g., Junctions 9, PICADY, ARCADY, Linsig) and able to mentor others. • Exhibit high numeracy, problem‑solving and innovative thinking. • Experience financially and programme managing projects using business tools. • Understand financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding and project delivery. • Near Chartered status or equivalent commercial experience.
