About the Role

The role involves a variety of trades – carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating – ensuring homes are safe, functional and well cared for. You will need to adapt each day, solve problems quickly and provide excellent customer service to residents. • Perform day‑to‑day responsive repairs in void social housing properties • Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames • Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors • Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges • Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps, and blocked sinks • Carry out patch plastering and mend damaged walls or ceilings • Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing • Paint and decorate to a professional finish after repairs • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard • Work sensitively in occupied properties, respecting residents’ privacy • Participate in rotational out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota • Attend required training sessions • Report additional works, safeguarding concerns or out‑of‑scope issues • Deliver excellent customer service in residents’ homes • Accurately record job details, materials used and completion notes via handheld devices or job sheets • Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle in good condition • Manage daily workload to meet service level targets

What You Bring

Candidates must have proven multi‑trade repair experience, a full UK driving licence and the ability to manage time both independently and within a team. A NVQ Level 2 in Joinery is desirable, and drivers must be over 21, hold their licence for at least three months and have fewer than nine points. • Proven experience in multiple repair trades (plumbing, plastering, decorating, tiling) • Hold a full UK driving licence • Work independently and as part of a team • Demonstrate good time‑management skills • NVQ Level 2 in Joinery (desirable)

Mears Group is hiring a Multi‑Skilled Operative for a full‑time permanent role in Doncaster, with a salary of up to £33,727 per year plus a company van and fuel card. The position is 42.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 8‑5, with an on‑call rota for out‑of‑hours emergencies. You will work across occupied social housing properties delivering responsive repairs and maintenance. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and will undergo background, identity and security checks.
