About the Role

Key duties involve creating submittals, interpreting project specifications, MEP and shop drawings, documenting progress with as‑builts and final program notes, and assembling Operation & Maintenance manuals. The role also requires testing control programs, inspecting HVAC systems, performing functional system checkouts, and producing equipment and floor‑plan graphics. Additional tasks include submitting material orders, performing fieldwork with controllers alongside Controls Field Engineers, and assisting in the development of functional checkpoint lists for commissioning. Incentive compensation eligibility is offered. • Design software and create databases for controls projects. • Program BAS/controls systems and develop Sequence of Operations. • Complete projects on schedule, within budget, and to customer specifications. • Collaborate with sales to define equipment needs and project timelines. • Prepare submittals and interpret project specifications, MEP and shop drawings. • Document progress, produce as‑builts, and assemble Operation & Maintenance manuals. • Test and validate control sequences against industry standards. • Inspect HVAC systems and conduct functional system checkouts. • Generate equipment and floor‑plan graphics per project documents. • Submit material orders and support fieldwork with controllers and field engineers. • Develop functional checkpoint lists for system commissioning.

Carrier Commercial Service is hiring an experienced Controls Programmer for its Phoenix, AZ location. The role oversees overall software design, database creation, and implementation of controls design standards for HVAC projects. The engineer must possess advanced knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), with Carrier i‑Vu experience considered a plus, and be skilled in programming controls and developing Sequence of Operations. Responsibilities include completing projects on schedule and within budget, ensuring customer satisfaction and specification compliance, and partnering with sales to define equipment requirements and timelines. Required qualifications are an Associate’s degree and at least four years of experience in building automation controls programming. Preferred qualifications include a BA/BS or MA/MS Engineering degree, experience with Carrier i‑Vu, Tridium or BACnet, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, computer networking, DDC theory, and strong Microsoft Office and communication skills. • Hold an Associate’s degree with 4+ years BAS controls programming experience (required). • Possess a BA/BS or MA/MS Engineering degree and experience with Carrier i‑Vu, Tridium or BACnet (preferred). • Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, computer networking, DDC theory, and Microsoft Office. • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
