About the Role

• Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards and apply controls for zero‑harm preventative maintenance. • Follow the Defence Service Definition Table schedule for inspections, testing, adjustments, cleaning and minor replacements. • Perform maintenance tasks on weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual cycles according to asset class and risk. • Execute standardized, repeatable tasks using appropriately qualified and licensed trades. • Carry out preventative maintenance inspections to spot wear, deterioration or potential failure points.

What You Bring

The apprenticeship starts in February 2026 and is open to candidates from any background, whether they bring Defence experience, industry knowledge or transferable skills from other sectors. If you are passionate about supporting Defence capability and want to be part of a high‑performing, inclusive team, you are encouraged to express your interest. Available trade types and locations include Refrigeration/HVAC Technician or Plumber at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera, and Refrigeration/HVAC Technician at RAAF Amberley. • Hold a White Card and current First Aid/CPR/LVR certification. • Hold a valid driver’s licence. • Be an Australian citizen eligible to work on Defence sites. • Possess baseline security clearance (or higher) – advantageous.
