About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once the legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers handle containers that may exceed 1,000 lb and must maneuver them into pickup zones, while residential drivers collect household waste and navigate tight residential environments. Roll‑off drivers prepare, load, and move large open‑top or compactor containers, often working in tight overhead spaces on industrial routes. All duties must comply with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and federal, state, and local regulations. Drivers conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, complete DVIR reports, and promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, or service disruptions to management. Participation in scheduled trainings, briefings, and meetings is required, along with collaboration with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and address customer requests. • Operate vehicles safely following WM safety policies, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, completing Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or service interruptions to management or dispatch. • Participate in required trainings, briefings, and meetings. • Work with Operations Manager to enhance route efficiency and adopt best practices. • Communicate customer requests and ensure complete, clean disposal of containers. • Follow assigned routes, finalize end‑of‑day paperwork, and support fellow drivers as needed. • Meet physical demands such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include at least one year of experience operating a CDL‑required vehicle (or recent military driving), a valid CDL Class A or B with an air‑brake endorsement, being 18 years or older, and legal authorization to work in the country. Preferred candidates hold a high school diploma or GED. The role demands physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
