About the Role
Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent to provide coordination, planning, and supervision for assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within a specific discipline. The role focuses on developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service, and it is available at both Level 1 and Level 2 based on candidate experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined by factors such as experience, location, and internal equity. The Superintendent is responsible for planning and implementing material, equipment, and inspection schedules that align with project timelines, reviewing construction documents for completeness and constructability, and coordinating plans with design engineers. Additional duties include developing and managing project schedules and site logistics, coaching and supervising team members, overseeing hiring and performance management, ensuring proper task coding and progress tracking, and fostering relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. • Plan and implement material, equipment, and inspection schedules to support project timelines. • Review construction documents for completeness, constructability, and contract compliance; coordinate with design engineers. • Develop and manage project schedules and site logistics; collaborate with partner superintendents. • Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, and site meetings. • Oversee hiring, transfers, dismissals, and performance management of team members. • Ensure proper task coding, track work progress, and provide training and career development. • Build effective relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. • Lead by example, provide coaching and feedback, and manage performance. • Manage safety, quality, risk, and compliance; identify and mitigate adverse conditions and drive process improvements.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering, or construction management, or possess ten years of trade experience, along with a current driver’s license. They should be detail‑oriented, capable of managing multiple complex projects, possess basic knowledge of construction law and business practices, and demonstrate intermediate Microsoft Office skills, a positive professional attitude, strong customer service, and effective communication abilities, including an understanding of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action policies. Superintendent I requires a minimum of five years of construction management experience and offers a base pay range of $111,400 to $167,100. Superintendent II demands at least eight years of experience with a salary range of $130,100 to $195,200, adjusted upward for locations such as Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan. • Hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related field or 10 years trade experience. • Maintain a current driver’s license and basic knowledge of construction law and business practices. • Demonstrate detail‑oriented organization, Microsoft Office proficiency, and strong customer service attitude. • Communicate company policies effectively and exhibit active listening and openness to feedback. • Understand and support Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans. • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
