About the Role

The Senior Technical Writer for the Advanced Manufacturing xCell team will partner with product, engineering, and business development groups to produce accurate, user‑friendly documentation and training materials that support continuity of operations and customer success. • Develop and maintain technical documentation (user manuals, system guides, SOPs) for the xCell product line. • Create training materials, including manuals and instructor‑led content, aligned with military standards (ADDIE, SAT). • Translate complex technical data into clear, user‑friendly documentation for warfighters and support teams. • Ensure documentation complies with MIL‑STD‑40051, MIL‑HDBK‑1222 and internal quality guidelines. • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and trainers to gather source material and validate content. • Participate in technical reviews, demos, and validation events to improve documentation. • Manage version control, documentation libraries, and knowledge‑management processes. • Define and implement scalable documentation processes, style guides, and templates. • Produce checklists, troubleshooting guides, release notes, and operational procedures. • Incorporate graphics, diagrams, and multimedia to enhance usability. • Identify documentation gaps or risks and propose corrective actions. • Promote a documentation culture by developing training, templates, and process improvements.

What You Bring

This full‑time role is based at our San Diego headquarters, requires on‑site presence, and may include up to 15 % domestic travel; relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates. • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications or related field. • Minimum 6 years of technical writing or curriculum development experience in defense, aerospace, or manufacturing. • Proven ability to create user manuals, SOPs, and training guides for complex systems. • Familiarity with DoD documentation and training standards such as MIL‑STD‑40051, ADDIE, and SAT. • Strong communication skills to tailor content for technical and non‑technical audiences. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and version‑control/document‑management tools. • Excellent project‑management and organizational abilities, capable of handling competing priorities. • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. • Experience in fast‑paced, high‑growth startup environments. • Background with autonomous systems or direct work with warfighter end‑users. • Knowledge of DoD and federal technical standards and instructional design practices. • Visual design skills for creating diagrams, illustrations, or multimedia content. • Up to 15% domestic travel required.
