Project Engineer - Primary Engineering

About the Role

The incumbent will prepare substation layouts, grounding and lightning system drawings, cable and cable‑tray routings, bill of materials, RFQs, and vendor vetting. They will also conduct site visits, estimate hours, and perform technical risk and opportunity assessments to support project and tender execution. Collaboration is key: the role requires coordination with the Engineering Manager, Engineering Leads, Tendering team, Project Managers, SCM, civil/steel design functions, consultants, and end customers. Providing timely engineering support across these interfaces ensures seamless project delivery. Technical responsibilities include delivering primary engineering outputs for AIS and GIS projects, adhering to IEC, IEEE, and AS standards, verifying data sheets of primary equipment, evaluating vendor offers, and conducting FAT/SAT as needed. Continuous improvement of the quality system, Opex initiatives, and regulatory compliance are also expected. • Lead engineering for low‑to‑medium complexity projects and tenders. • Create substation layouts, grounding, lightning, and cable routing designs. • Prepare bills of material, RFQs, and evaluate vendor offers. • Conduct site visits, estimate effort, and assess technical risks and opportunities. • Coordinate with engineering, tendering, project management, SCM, and consulting teams. • Deliver AIS & GIS engineering deliverables compliant with IEC, IEEE, and AS standards. • Verify technical data sheets and perform FAT/SAT of primary equipment. • Drive continuous improvement of quality systems and Opex initiatives. • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and safety standards.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a B.E. in Electrical Engineering with 8–10 years of experience, including 7–10 years in substation tendering and project engineering. Proficiency in CAD/BIM tools (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks), knowledge of international standards, strong communication skills, and fluency in English are required. The role demands a dynamic, proactive individual with high ownership, teamwork across countries, and a commitment to safety and integrity. • Possess 8–10 years of electrical engineering experience, including substation tendering. • Proficient in BIM tools, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, and Navisworks. • Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and ownership skills.
