About the Role

The Shift Team Leader plans and coordinates daily shift activities, supervises Data Centre Shift Engineers, and maintains accurate shift logs, statutory logbooks, and activity records. They ensure safe, efficient maintenance and operation of all mechanical and electrical systems while updating the CAFM system with detailed documentation. In addition, the leader supports incident management, conducts root‑cause investigations, and works closely with the Data Centre Operations Manager to keep critical services fully operational. They also source and review quotations, prioritise tasks, and respond effectively to breakdowns and changing priorities. • Lead and support shift team, coordinating daily activities • Supervise shift engineers and ensure safe operation of M&E systems • Maintain shift logs, statutory records, and CAFM documentation • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical infrastructure • Act as HV Authorised Person, approving safe systems of work and issuing permits • Manage critical spares and ensure contractor compliance • Support incident response, root‑cause analysis, and service continuity • Collaborate with Operations Manager on critical service performance

What You Bring

Are you an experienced engineer with strong knowledge of critical environments and HV systems? We’re looking for a Data Centre Shift Team Leader to oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensure the highest standards of safety and reliability, and support the ongoing performance of mission‑critical infrastructure. Candidates must hold an NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering and possess an HV Authorised Person qualification. Required experience includes a strong engineering background in critical environments, broad knowledge of HVAC, building services, and mechanical/electrical systems, as well as excellent communication, teamwork, and people‑management skills. Good administrative abilities, flexibility to work across multiple sites, and the ability to manage incidents on a continental shift pattern are essential. • Source quotations, prioritise tasks, and respond to breakdowns • Hold NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds in electrical or mechanical engineering • Possess HV Authorised Person qualification (essential) • Experience in critical environments such as data centres or hospitals • Broad knowledge of HVAC, building services, and mechanical/electrical systems • Excellent communication, teamwork, and people‑management skills • Proficient in administrative duties and statutory inspection records • Flexible to work across multiple sites on a continental shift pattern

The role is based at Santander Carlton Park Data Centres, operating on a 12‑hour shift pattern of 6‑on/4‑off/4‑on/6‑off.
