About the Role

In this role, you’ll support our mechanics and fabricators with day‑to‑day maintenance tasks, ensuring our fleet and equipment remain safe, reliable, and ready for work. No two days are the same in this fast‑paced workshop environment. Downer plans, creates and sustains integrated services across Australia and New Zealand. Our Transport & Infrastructure business manages and maintains road networks, delivers civil and commercial construction, and leverages trans‑Tasman capabilities to provide technical solutions for customers and communities. • Assist qualified tradespeople with mechanical and fabrication tasks • Carry out basic servicing, maintenance and small engine repairs • Support stores operations including ordering, receiving, and picking parts • Operate a range of vehicles and machinery (manual and automatic) • Contribute to workshop organisation, housekeeping, and safety compliance

What You Bring

Our ideal candidate holds a current driver’s licence (manual and automatic) and has hands‑on experience in automotive mechanical, fabrication, or a similar trade. Desirable qualifications include an MR licence, forklift licence, store/parts experience, and small‑engine repair skills. • Valid driver’s licence – manual and automatic experience required • MR driver’s licence (or willingness to obtain) • Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain) • Experience working in stores/parts environments • Small engine repair and maintenance skills
