About the Role

• Lead startup, commissioning, and warranty processes for air‑ and water‑cooled chillers in newly built data centers. • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets while tracking KPIs and profit margins. • Conduct work‑in‑progress meetings to coordinate design, material delivery, and labor schedules. • Serve as primary liaison among customers, commissioning authorities, general contractors, and subcontractors. • Resolve customer concerns promptly to ensure satisfaction with project execution. • Interpret mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings to verify compliance with codes and specifications. • Integrate and verify building automation system (BAS) controls and manage change orders. • Forecast monthly revenue, estimate project completion costs, and oversee warranty documentation. • Maintain rigorous job‑site safety standards across all projects.

What You Bring

Carrier Commercial Service is hiring a Project Engineer to lead startup, commissioning, and warranty management of air‑ and water‑cooled chillers for new data centers. The position works with cross‑functional teams—including engineering, operations, commissioning authorities, general contractors, and subcontractors—in the Ohio Valley (Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky). Extensive travel is required, with up to 75% time spent on site and several weeks per project. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, plus at least three years of project management experience and three years in mechanical installation, building automation, electrical installation, or construction. Experience with water‑ or air‑cooled chillers and commercial HVAC—including centrifugal chillers, CDU systems, and air‑side equipment—is also required. The ability to read and interpret complex MEP drawings is essential. A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering—or a master’s/MBA—is preferred, as are data‑center experience, PMP or LEED certification, and familiarity with BACnet. Applicants should demonstrate strong multitasking, communication, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving abilities, and be able to build rapport with customers. • Travel up to 75% of time, including extended stays at data‑center sites in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.
