About the Role

The Project Engineer supports field activities and assists the Project Manager with project administration for multiple small projects or a medium‑to‑large project, handling job transition, cost and schedule management, constructability, quality, safety, procurement, contract management, and regulatory compliance. • Obtain approvals for monthly billing and earned value reports. • Develop and manage project schedules for small or mid‑size projects. • Analyze targets, goals, job cost summaries, and related reports. • Alert Superintendent and Project Manager to resource or crew impacts. • Prepare and update project budgets and review weekly cost summaries. • Estimate change order costs and coordinate with pre‑construction on bids. • Collaborate on job transition, communicate requirements, and develop procurement plans. • Generate material take‑offs, scoping documents, and terms for procurement. • Create requests for proposals, evaluate quotations, and recommend procurement decisions. • Prepare field purchase orders and obtain approvals for major purchases. • Compile monthly financial reports and participate in financial reviews. • Approve and code project invoices with the Project Manager. • Produce technical records such as constructability reports, RFIs, and inspection logs. • Coordinate with Superintendent and engineers to produce as‑built records. • Manage work package closure, punch lists, and project turnover checklists. • Collect documentation to assess potential contract changes, disputes, or claims. • Lead LEAN/SQP committee and identify process improvement opportunities. • Ensure subcontractor compliance with contract terms and issue impact notices. • Review compliance reports for prevailing wage, workforce utilization, and MBE/SBE participation. • Interface with Safety and Risk Management on clinics, injury reporting, and case management. • Follow company recruitment and hiring guidelines. • Conduct new‑hire orientation and process E‑Verify where certified. • Track and coordinate completion of training requirements. • Read, analyze, and interpret business documents, technical procedures, and regulations. • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documents. • Communicate effectively with all project personnel levels. • Apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, geometry, and trigonometry to project tasks. • Customize and modify spreadsheets as needed. • Direct work and evaluate co‑worker strengths and weaknesses. • Define problems, gather information, establish facts, and draw conclusions. • Develop construction schedules using the critical path method. • Interpret contracts, specifications, drawings, and scope of work. • Proactively maximize return on investment throughout project phases.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, have at least two years of relevant experience (or six years in construction), and be proficient with Microsoft Office. A solid understanding of construction software, cost accounting, and the ability to read technical documents, communicate effectively, and work in a team environment are essential. • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent construction experience (2+ years or 6+ years). • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Understand cost accounting and compute mathematical differences across drawing stages. • Use construction software such as Primavera, Timberline, or Vista.
