About the Role

In this role you will set up and operate metal‑fabricating machines such as brakes, shears, raceways, and punches to cut, bend, straighten, and form metal plates, sheets, and structural shapes, supporting Johnson Controls’ mission of creating smarter, healthier environments. The position does not include supervisory responsibilities; however, employees are expected to actively participate in high‑performance team activities. • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup and production sequence. • Select, position, and secure tooling, fixtures, stops, guides, and turntables on the machine. • Adjust controls such as pressure, ram stroke depth, blade angle, and machine speed. • Mark bending or cutting lines and reference points on workpieces. • Align workpieces with dies or cutting blades and clamp them securely. • Start the machine, monitor operation, and make adjustments for multiple passes. • Inspect and measure finished parts, label them, and move them to proper storage. • Document any deviations from prints or specifications and take corrective action. • Perform all Class I and II jobs as assigned. • Operate a licensed forklift as required. • No supervisory duties; collaborate with team members on high‑performance initiatives. • Apply basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) and interpret bar graphs.

What You Bring

The work environment involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, vibration and loud noise; the job requires frequent standing, walking, handling of parts, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lb, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. • Possess a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and basic computer skills. • Demonstrate English reading/writing proficiency and ability to present information to small groups. • Use common‑sense reasoning to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
